PARTNER BIOGRAPHIES: Neal Richman, Associate Director, has 22 years of experience in real estate management and development, contributing to the rehabilitation and construction of more than one thousand dwelling units in Southern California. His development work has expanded resident-controlled housing and broadened opportunities for ownership by lower income households. His development research clients have included organizations in Europe, Africa, South America, and the former Soviet Union. At UCLA's Advanced Policy Institute (API), Richman is exploring the use of new information and communication technologies to support a wide range of community development activities. The Neighborhood Knowledge Los Angeles (NKLA) internet site provides information on property tax delinquencies, code violations, and other city and county data. Living independently in Los Angeles (LILA) is a community building project designed to facilitate the sharing of information by and for persons with disabilities. Over the past four years, in partnership between API and the Southern California Association of Governments, Richman has conducted training programs for government officials and representatives of private industry on how new technologies will reshape urban development and finance. Since 1991, Richman has been teaching in the UCLA Department of Urban Planning. |
